While it is yet to be verified that these are descendants of the old Jewish families of Sheerness, there is a high probability that at least some are. If it is it shows that it is arbitrary to ignore the potential interest in the post-community identity of the relict Jews of a dissolved community.

As a post-script there are other areas of continuing Jewish interest in Sheppey, centering on Minster. I was reliably informed by a Jewish man I met by chance in the Sheerness Library, that members of the Chassidic community holiday around the town. They apparently frequent the beaches towards Minster, the principal being that the acreage of visible bare sand to bare flesh is considerably in favour of the sand.
